Description
Donostia Red Garlic
Donostia Red Garlic is a Creole-type hardneck variety from the Basque region of Spain, a.k.a. San Sebastian. Gardeners and chefs like it for its bold, sharp heat and complex/unique flavor. It packs a spicy raw flavor, but is nutty and sweet when cooked. It is also a wonderful choice for southern growers because it likes hot, warm, and humid conditions.
Donostia Red has white wrappers and dark red-purple colored cloves. There are generally 8 to 12 cloves per bulb. Like other Creole varieties, it’s known for its long storage ability.
