Early Portuguese

Early Portuguese is a stunning heirloom variety that is unique in its extra early harvest. Its bulbs have impressively streaky purple stripes with around 9-12 wrapped cloves per head. Turbans are always the first garlic bulbs out of your garden in spring, and also the first to start sprouting in the fall. Don't be alarmed if you find your bulbs sprouting in storage before you get a chance to plant them in October or November. It's perfectly normal and typical of this variety.
