EARLY PORTUGUESE GARLIC - culinary bulbs

Starting at: $5.95

Early Portuguese is a stunning heirloom variety that is unique in its extra early harvest. Its bulbs have impressively streaky purple stripes with around 9-12 wrapped cloves per head. Clean the bulbs upon digging and in a few days the newly white wrappers will take on the purple coloring and streaks that turbans are known for. Very pretty ti display! Early Portuguese is in the Turban family, which is a sub-category of the Artichoke Family.

Only my 2nd year growing it. Started with 1# and now get more than 25#s at harvest!

If you want to be one of the first to have garlic bulbs at your Farmers' Market, consider growing this variety or any other turban. Mine are typically ready at the end of May in Kentucky zone 6b. Pretty much as soon as you see the scapes, they are ready to pull.

Turbans are considered soft-bolting hard necks.
