Basque is one of the beautiful Turban garlics I sell. Turbans are a sub-set of the artichoke variety and produce big, flat bulbs with about 9-12 cloves each. If you clean the bulbs immediately after harvest by stripping off one or two outer layers, in a few days the bulb will take on the beautiful purple/red streaking and coloring that turbans are known for.
Only my 2nd year growing it. Started with 1# and now got more than 20#s at harvest!
If you want to be one of the first to have garlic bulbs at your Farmers' Market, consider growing this variety or any other turban. Mine are typically ready at the end of May in Kentucky zone 6b. Pretty much as soon as you see the scapes, they are ready to pull.
Turbans are considered soft-bolting hard necks.
