The Cherokee gentleman who gave me starts of this wonderful hardneck garlic knows of it being in his family for more than 70 years. It was grown by the Cherokee Indians wherever they traveled. I acquired starts from him in 2006 and have been growing it ever since. It is one of our family's favorite garlics: sweet and tasty when baked. We love spreading it on crackers with Brie. I think your family would enjoy this variety, too.
After going through some wet seasons, and then some droughts, Cherokee is still struggling for me, although this year was the best it's been since 2020. That being said, in order for me to strive to keep this variety alive, I am replanting all that I grew this year. I hope to have some fair quantities of it to sell in 2026.
Quantities listed are for bulbs over 1.75".
