Description
Susanville Garlic
I had heard about this garlic many years ago, so jumped in during the fall of 2020 and bought several pounds to see how it would grow in hot and humid south-central Kentucky. Guess what? IT DID GREAT! My return was 4-5x what I planted! I hope this will also become one of your new favorite artichoke-variety soft neck garlics.
Susanville garlic is a softneck variety known for its mild flavor, excellent storage qualities, and large bulbs containing 10-16 cloves.
Culinary
Not too many garlic stores carry this variety. This popular soft neck is white-skinned with some occasional pink. It’s also one of our best varieties for roasting. Your color will vary, and the whiteness depends upon quick drying in not-so-humid environments. Kentucky is very humid, so my skins aren’t as crisp or as white as some.
How Big are the Garlic bulbs?
Garlic Seed bulbs measure over 1.75″ across
Garlic Culinary bulbs measure less than 1.75″ across.
