A mild to hot (but not too hot) garlic with many cloves in multi-layers. Larger bulbs can have up to 20 cloves! Long on flavor but short on burn is how it's been described. Silverskins are the last to mature in the season, and they store a long time. Tight skins and a very bright, white exterior.

Silver Rose (as well as Silver White) grows into a very tall, thin plant. I find that it tends to fall over in the garden, even though it's not ready to harvest yet (but you can harvest it at that time, if you want). Even fallen,it does not rot in the ground is one of the LAST garlic varieties I harvest each year--even after most of my hard necks! Once acclimated to my garden, it produced a lot of mostly medium and big bulbs. It's one of the last varieties to dry enough to clean and sort.

I thought I was going to discontinue this variety (that's what I said in 2016), but planted some anyway (I couldn't resist). In the end it produced very well considering how little of a plot of planted of it.

Mixed large but mostly medium sized bulbs this year. Wrappers aren't as pretty (clean white) as in other years due to lots of rain at harvest time.
