Nootka Rose garlic is a heirloom softneck Silverskin that came from the San Juan Islands of Washington State.
What can I say? This is a beautiful garlic. Firm, heavy bulbs with big cloves throughout, although they're taller and skinnier than other varieties.
I started with 1# about two years ago, replanted ALL the cloves, and harvested about 22#s this year!
It's a Silverskin variety with an artichoke layering system inside. It's one of the latest garlic to be harvested, and it's one of the best to braid (as are all silver skins). It has white skins and rose or purple tipped cloves. Very attractive!
Silverskins are known for good storage ability. The previous varieties I used to grow stored for almost a year in a cool room through winter. You won't be disappointed with this variety!
